- Are cosmetic injections just for women?
No. Many men have also benefited from these treatments.
- How often can I receive injections?
As early as 90 days.
- How long does the injecting take?
Wrinkle Relaxers 20 minutes
Dermal Fillers 45 minutes- 1 hour
Micro Needling: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Chemical Peels: 30 minutes
- Do the results of treatment differ between people?
Yes, individual results vary. Each client gets a personalized treatment and recommended amount of product to achieve desirable results
- What can I expect immediately following treatment?
Immediately afterwards, minor side effects such as redness, swelling, and bruising are common. The treated area may also feel tender. Headaches are common with wrinkle relaxers. These effects usually last 2-3 days and do not prevent patients from returning to work and other normal activities immediately after leaving our office.
It is recommended not to lay down for 6 hours after treatment, do not exercise and do not touch the treatment area. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, sun exposure, and blood thinners (aspirin/Motrin).
- What is the ideal age to begin injectable treatments?
It is best to start young (as young as 20’s) because the treatments will prevent wrinkles and lines from forming.
- Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
One of the worries many patients express is that the injections will make it impossible for them to move their faces. It depends on how much product is placed into the muscle. There is a tendency to cause a frozen appearance if too much is used.
- Will the treatment prevent new wrinkles?
Yes they have some ability to prevent new wrinkles from forming. Wrinkle relaxers reduce the repetitive muscle movements that lead to wrinkle formation. Many dermal filler products prompt the body to produce new collagen, which will reduce wrinkle formation.
- Is the treatment reversible?
No. But they are not permanent and will gradually wear off as your body absorbs and metabolizes the product.
- Will the results last forever?
No, the correction is temporary. The results with wrinkle relaxers will last 3-6 months. Dermal fillers will last 6 months and up to 2 years with Voluma.
- What is in Wrinkle relaxers?
Wrinkle relaxers consist of a purified version of a protein and toxin produced by a bacteria found in meat. When injected into targeted muscles, these products work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscle. This controlled weakening reduces muscle movement, causing the wrinkles over the muscles to become smoother.
- What is in dermal fillers?
Most dermal fillers are a clear gel consisting of a product that can be found in the body. It is called Hyaluronic Acid or HA. This substance occurs naturally in the skin, and plays an important role in its volume and elasticity. This substance is lost during the ageing process, causing the skin to sag into wrinkles.
- Are Injectables safe?
Yes, at Premier Medical all injectors are Board Certified expert Nurse Practitioner who specializes in cosmetic dermatology. All the products used are FDA approved and purchased directly from the manufacturer.
- What happens as the treatment wears off?
As the product wears off, the skin will return to its natural, pre-treatment state. If you decide against further injections, your skin will be left in the same condition it was before treatment; it will not be any more wrinkled than it was before treatment.
- Will people know I have had a treatment?
The goal of these treatments is to create a natural-looking enhancement to your appearance. Often, people will notice you look younger, healthier, well rested, or refreshed.
- What are the differences between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers?
Wrinkle relaxers are used to treat wrinkles and lines caused by repeated muscle movement, such as forehead creases and crow’s feet. They work by temporarily weakening the underlying muscles. The results take about 10 days to appear and usually last about 3-6 months.
Dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin by adding volume. They may be used to fill in wrinkles caused by sagging skin, add volume to the midface, and to enhance lips. The results of dermal fillers are immediate and can last 6 months up to 2 years.
- Will the treatment hurt?
The dermal fillers have a local anesthetic blended into the injected material itself. In other cases, a topical anesthetic can be used to numb the skin prior to the injection. Either method significantly reduces the amount of discomfort experienced during the injection process.
